INSTALL Names Mynor Perez to International Committee
9/4/2006

A floor covering veteran from the New England area is the newest member of an international committee charged with increasing the skill of flooring installers.

Mynor Perez, 37, of Boston, will serve on the International Labor-Management Committee for the Floorcovering Industry, a group that is sponsored by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. The Committee has launched a major initiative to increase the quality and professionalism of floorcovering installers through a program called INSTALL (International Standards and Training Alliance).

Perez, a business agent of UBC Local Union 2168, is a native of Guatemala. He has worked as a commercial flooring professional since 1990. In 2000, was appointed as both business manager of LU 2168 and a board trustee of the local Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, of which he is chairman. Perez also has been elected three times by his peers to the LU 2168 executive board where he is currently the financial secretary, and three times to represent the New England Regional Council of Carpenters as a national delegate. He currently studies criminal justice and business communications at Harvard.

Part of Perez' committee work will be creating alliances with major mills and manufacturers. INSTALL places technical and education experts from leading mills and manufacturers into the role of advising on INSTALL curriculum, ensuring that INSTALL professionals will learn what is needed in the market.
